Dr. Rosenlicht has over 40 years of experience teaching at some of the most highly regarded academic medical institutions. He has served on the faculty of The University of California at San Francisco, Davis, and Los Angeles, as well as at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
He has conducted numerous research projects including clinical trials evaluating the efficacy of psychopharmacological agents, natural agents, and psychotherapy interventions, as well as
investigating the basic science of sleep and psychiatric disorders. He has published widely in these areas and is an internationally recognized expert in Evidence Based Medicine (EBM), the critical
review and examination of the objective evidence supporting treatment efficacy and safety. He has lectured on these subjects widely in this country, as well as internationally.
His current and recent research projects include studying the effectiveness of rTMS (repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation) in refractory depression, pharmacological interventions for
depression, cognitive-behavioral interventions for insomnia, and examining the relationship between memory system functioning in sleep and insomnia.
He has extensive experience teaching medical students, residents (postgraduate M.D.s obtaining advanced training in Psychiatry), as well as Psychology and Social Work trainees. He is founder of
the UCSF-VAMC San Francisco Mood Disorders Clinic, and served as its director for 15 years.
He serves as a reviewer for numerous professional journals.
